The menace arising from the epidemic of antifungal therapeutic failures in South Asia with almost confirmed spread across the globe has become daunting for all of us. While one may deliberate on the plethora of issues contributing to it, the unfortunate ally that the resistant pathogenic fungi have apparently found in some of our colleagues and certain pharmaceuticals owing to their personal vested interests is dreadful.
Thus, DermaSourceIndia (DSI), breaking its convention of organizing state-of-the-art nicely planned Conclaves and International Summits, is shouldering the responsibility of URGENT ORGANIZATION of the FIRST INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS of SAARCUM [South Asian Alliance against Resistant CUtaneous Mycosis] on 17th November 2018, at MEDANTA: THE MEDICITY, Gurugram, INDIA. The one full-day Congress shall try to cover all basic and practical aspects that the treating physicians MUST KNOW to cope up with this problem. Representatives from the National Societies of Dermatology of all South Asian countries have been invited and many of them would join. Involvement of other specialties like Microbiology, Pharmacology, Community Medicine, Epidemiology, Gynecology, Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Paediatrics, Critical Care and others is an essential part of this endeavor, cos to win the battle against mycoses, it is imperative for all stake holders to join the movement.
The FIRST half (Pre-lunch) shall be devoted to short, crisp and practical didactic lectures by specialists of the field and the SECOND half (Post-lunch) shall involve training the delegates in certain unknown/less-known diagnostic/therapeutic modalities through our model of WORKSHOPs. The tentatively planned workshops include – Entomodermoscopy, Basic Essential Diagnstic Skills in Clnical Mycology, Nail Chemical Peeling, Using Light & Laser Devices in Onychomycosis.
