Dermoscopy (or ‘dermatoscopy’ as some consider a better term), is a noninvasive method that allows the in vivo evaluation of colors and microstructures of the epidermis, the dermoepidermal junction, and the papillary dermis; structures invisible to the naked eye. The introduction of dermoscopy, has opened a new dimension in dermatologic diagnosis. Its journey from utility in diagnosis of melanoma has traversed many miles and today it is being used for the diagnosis of myriad of skin conditions.
